Hub East Central Completes New £5M Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit in Dundee

ECShub CAMHS Dundee 09-03-2015 0198CHP Hub East Central Scotland (hubco) has handed over a £5m state of the art new specialist mental health care facility for children and adolescents in Tayside and North of Scotland. The project was undertaken for the North of Scotland Planning Group, which incorporates six health boards across Tayside and the Highlands and Islands. hubco managed the entire project from the early development and procurement stage to commissioning the main contractor, BAM and its design team, architects Gauldie Wright & Partners, Structural engineers Goodsons and M&E Designers FES. Patients will start moving into the new building from April this year, benefitting from single en suite accommodation and a wide range of internal and external communal and recreational areas. Physical infrastructure is recognised as a key aspect in the development of clinical service models in the health service and patients who have visited the building in advance of their move have responded very positively. Ruth Masson, Regional Child and Adolescent Health Network Manager at NHS Tayside, with overall responsibility for the new facility, said: “This is a building of exceptional quality. The new facility has given my clinical team and wider social and support agencies a great opportunity to deliver a significant change in clinical outcomes.  When patients move into this facility in April, they will benefit from several well-planned aspects; the orientation of the building, overlooking scenic aspects of Tayside, arrangement of clinical spaces, a beautiful external garden and communal recreation areas and an appropriate selection of finishes, fixtures and patient art-work, will together contribute to making a positive difference to patients and staff’. Neil McCormick, Chief Executive, hubco East Central, said: “This is a unique project that will enhance patient care for young people in the region. Our team worked closely with the North of Scotland Planning Group and NHS Tayside to ensure that the new facility would meet their specified needs and managed the project to successful completion on time and within budget.” Hub East Central Scotland Ltd is a joint partnership between public and private sector organisations aimed at developing and delivering better public services across East Central Scotland.   ECShub CAMHS Dundee 09-03-2015 0182CHP ECShub CAMHS Dundee 09-03-2015 0165CHP ECShub CAMHS Dundee 09-03-2015 0004CHPECShub CAMHS Dundee 09-03-2015 0135CHP
