WORK STARTS ON BALDRAGON ACADEMY IN DUNDEE

ECShub Baldragon sod-cutting 29-02-2016 014 Work has started on the £28.7 million replacement school for Baldragon Academy in Dundee. The project is led by hub East Central Scotland in partnership with Dundee Council, Scottish Futures Trust and Robertson Tayside and will be ready for its first intake of pupils in early 2018. Dundee City Council leader Councillor Ken Guild and education convener Councillor Stewart Hunter, head teacher Kenny Hearn and Gary Bushnell, Chief Executive, hub East Central Scotland, joined pupils to celebrate the occasion. Councillor Guild said: ““Schools are an important component of our commitment to improve our communities and the replacement for Baldragon Academy will provide state of the art facilities to meet the opportunities and challenges that our pupils will face in the years ahead. “This is yet another major enhancement of learning and teaching facilities across the city.” Gary Bushnell, Chief Executive, hub East Central Scotland, said: “This is the second new school project that hub is delivering in Dundee and we look forward to handing over a completed high quality building that provides a bright, modern learning environment for pupils and staff and fully meets the needs of the community that it serves.” Kevin Dickson, regional managing director of Robertson Tayside, said: “We are delighted to be delivering this project, providing a shared campus which will enhance the learning experience for pupils at every stage of their education while offering a fantastic facility for the community for generations to come.” The team at hub East Central Scotland are due to hand over the new Harris Academy in Dundee in the coming weeks.
