Replacement Details: Former 1200 pupil academy and college outreach facility, Lochside leisure centre and the historic Forfar swimming pool.
Total Users / Residents: 1200 pupils plus concurrent community use of sports facilities

Project Information

A new secondary school to serve approximately 1270 pupils incorporating substantial community sports facilities comprising swimming pool, diving pool, sports hall, squash court, dance studio, fitness suite, drama studio, multi-use games area, all weather pitch, grass football pitches and grass rugby pitch and running track.

Built upon a proportion of the existing school’s playing fields, the building comprises of a concrete framed structure for the teaching block and a steel frame to house the sporting facilities.

 Due to the existing high water table a settlement pond was installed ahead of the works commencing to assist with site drainage.

During the course of the works an exemplary CSS Score of 44 was achieved.

The building is complimented by a 200 space car park with 50 car overspill facility, school bus collection points, pupil drop-off facility and municipal bus stop.

Community Involvement

Walk-in sessions enabling local people to learn more about the campus designs, and transport routes.

Community Benefits:

Numerous work placements for 14-19 year olds, and curriculum support activities.

Three graduates and nine apprentice starts Various training sessions for subcontractors were completed
