hubco starts development on first of three schools for Perth & Kinross Council

Pupils and staff of Crieff Primary School along with Perth & Kinross Council’s education team gathered today at the new school site to mark a historic turf cutting event.  The £14 Million School is part of a major investment across the schools estate of Perth & Kinross Council and will see existing facilities on Commissioner Street move to the site nearer to the Strathearn Community Campus. The improvement of the schools estate in Perth & Kinross is one of the council’s major priorities and forms part of an overall strategy to invest some £80 Million in developing schools that are inclusive, fit for purpose and suitable to deliver current curriculum standards.  As part of this overall estate development strategy, hubco are also currently developing for Perth & Kinross Council the new Oakbank and Alyth Primary schools. hubco’s Chief Executive Neil McCormick said ‘This important milestone in the development of the new Crieff Primary School has been made possible by true value for money infrastructure development services that Perth & Kinross Council have procured from hubco.  We have engaged with local businesses wherever possible on the construction and development work packages.  The project will also see a number of apprenticeships and local employment opportunities together with training and curriculum development activities for local residents.  I am confident that once complete, the new school will not only have first class educational  facilities, but will also look back with pride on the positive effects that the development activity has brought to the local community’.
