Collaboration Recognised with Double Success at GO Awards

A successful partnership between Fife Council, BAM Construction, hub East Central Scotland and the Social Value Portal On the £15 million Templehall Comm unity Hub has been recognised with a double win at the prestigious GO Awards Scotland 2026/27.

The success recognises the strength of collaboration between the public and private sectors in delivering high-quality community infrastructure while creating lasting social and economic benefits for local people and businesses.

The Excellence in Social Value Award was presented to Fife Council in partnership with hub East Central Scotland, BAM Construction and Social Value Portal, recognising their collaborative approach to maximising the wider benefits of public investment.

BAM Construction, working with Fife Council in partnership with hub East Central Scotland, also secured the Supplier of the Year Award, highlighting the importance of strong, collaborative working relationships in delivering successful public sector projects.

The awards reflect a shared commitment to ensuring that investment in new public buildings and infrastructure delivers much more than physical assets. Through collaborative planning, procurement and delivery, the partners have worked to create opportunities for local businesses, support skills development and employment, and generate meaningful benefits for communities across Fife.

The collaborative approach generated £6.4 million in independently validated social value, exceeding its original commitment. Achievements included £7.5 million of local supply chain spend, 17 local jobs, 119 apprenticeship weeks, 10 weeks of work experience placements and more than £173,000 in community investment and in-kind support.

A key initiative was the creation of a replacement Templehall Community Gym after the loss of the former facility. BAM Construction and 22 supply chain partners transformed a vacant council-owned building into a fully functioning gym in just five weeks, contributing more than £141,000 in labour, materials and expertise free of charge. Membership subsequently grew from around 50 to more than 350.

Brian Craig, Chief Executive, hub East Central Scotland, said:

“These awards recognise what can be achieved when organisations work together with a shared ambition to deliver the very best outcomes from public investment.

“Our focus is to ensure that the projects we deliver create lasting value for the communities they serve. That means not only delivering excellent facilities, but also supporting local businesses, creating opportunities for people and making a positive contribution to the local economy.”

The GO Awards Scotland celebrate excellence and innovation in public procurement, recognising organisations and partnerships that demonstrate outstanding performance and deliver positive outcomes for the public sector and wider society.
